We have recently seen the biggest overhaul of company law for more than 20 years with the enactment of the Companies Act 2006. This wide-ranging piece of legislation attempts to bring company law together under one act of parliament (that just happens to be 1300 sections long!).
The provisions of the act are being brought into force between October 2007 and October 2009, resulting in a transitional period where two sets of legislation need to be consulted.
