Commercial Property Paralegal with prospects

We are looking for a recent Law Graduate interested in pursuing a career in commercial property.

After one year of satisfactory paralegal work with the firm the following career options would be available:

A. Support from the firm to qualify as a Chartered Legal Executive. This route would involve:

1. A year undertaking part time study for CILEx; entailing two commercial property practice units assessed by Level 6 CILEx exams and one client care skills unit assessed by CILEx coursework. At the same time the candidate would begin compiling their CILEx commercial property work portfolio towards step (2) below.

On successfully passing the above units, the candidate would be a Graduate Member of CILEx.

2. A further post-graduate year continuing the candidate’s compilation of two years’ CILEx commercial property work portfolio (one year of which has to be post-graduate).

Following completion of step (2) the candidate may make an application for Fellowship and if successful become a Chartered Legal Executive.

3. Once achieving Chartered Legal Executive status, if the candidate wishes to become a solicitor then the candidate would be exempt from the requirement to undertake a training contract on the basis that the candidate has already completed a required period of recognised training.

In order to qualify as a solicitor, the candidate would have to complete the Legal Practice Course, which can be completed part-time over a further two years. As a Chartered Legal Executive the candidate would also have to complete the Professional Skills Course (PSC) (about a week long); but would be automatically exempt from the elective elements of the PSC.

During all this time the candidate will be earning a salary and the firm may offer financial assistance with all or part of the course fees.

B. Support from the firm to qualify as a solicitor whilst working. This route would involve:

1. Completion of the Legal Practice Course, which can be completed part-time over two years.

2. Following successful completion of the LPC, an eighteen month training contract (six months less than the usual two years due to having continued to carry out qualifying legal work during the LPC).

Following successful completion of the training contract, the candidate will qualify as a solicitor.

During all this time the candidate will be earning a salary and the firm may offer financial assistance with all or part of the course fees.
